2012 Fisker Karma EcoSport
s/n YH4K14AAXA000936
Silver Wind with Monsoon TriTone interior

When first revealed at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, interest was brisk and enthusiastic for the innovative and dramatic Fisker Karma. Henrick Fisker had already distinguished himself as a world class designer with significant designs to his name including the BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9, and DB8 Vantage, Not only was the Karma a beautifully sculpted piece of automotive design, it housed some of the most innovative hybrid gas/electric drive systems available at the time. When it finally launched in 2011, the Karma was the world’s first luxury electric, extended range vehicle. Driven by a pair of twin electric motors, and powered by a centrally located lithium ion battery, the Karma also carried a 260hp 2.0 liter GM Ecotec four cylinder turbocharged engine, which powered a generator to feed electricity directly to the drive motors. Additionally, the car also was outfitted with plug-in charging technology. Allowing for overnight recharging within the home or workplace. The proprietary “Q-Drive” hybrid technology was not the only advanced system in the Karma as it also included a solar paneled roof, which was used primarily to aid in cabin climate control.

Performance from the two electric drive motors delivered impressive numbers considering the curb weight of 5,300 lbs for the base model. With 403 hp and 960 lb ft torque, the Karma had a top speed of 125 mph and 0-60 times of 6.3 seconds. Fisker reported a 230 mile range for the Karma under a fully charged battery, and 52 mpg using all electric mode (range for electric cars varies depending on driving conditions). Deliveries for the first cars were delayed for a variety of reasons but finally arrived in late 2011. Roughly 2,000 Karmas were delivered to North American customers. All cars were manufactured in Finland and delivered to US and Europe. In late 2011, over 300 Karmas were damaged beyond repair when Hurricane Sandy destroyed cars waiting for dealer delivery at the port. Timing, delays, and recalls plagued the Karma upon release, in part due to the challenges of managing such a highly sophisticated piece of technology. Market and supply conditions weighed heavily on Fisker, eventually causing them to dissolve their assets in November 2013 and file for bankruptcy. Despite the challenges of running a business, the Karma truly was one of the most sophisticated automobiles of the decade. Fisker Automotive received a number of awards including the 2009 “Green Design 100” award from Time magazine, also listing the Karma among “The 50 Best Inventions of 2011”. In 2012, Automobile Magazine awarded the Karma “Design of The Year”, Top Gear Magazine awarded it “Luxury Car of the Year”, and was selected as James May’s Top Gear “Car of The Year”. The popular TV sitcom “Two and a Half Men” featured the Karma prominently in several episodes as the vehicle of choice for the quirky internet millionaire character Walden Schmidt.

Today the Fisker Karma ranks among one of the most amazing automotive achievements of the modern era. Not only is the stunning bodywork a tour de force of glass, composite, and mechanical technology, the combined visual results are simply like no other car on the road – a spectacular feast for the eyes and mind of anyone who admires premier technology and excellence in design.

This Fisker Karma was delivered brand new to an investor in the company who took delivery of the car in Marin, CA. Having only covered 18,000 miles, this one owner car was optioned with the $3,000.00 Silver Wind exterior paint, and $2,200.00 Interior Package “Monsoon Tri”. The owner also had a $1,200.00 clear bra system installed on the car for finish protection. Standard features include 22” Circuit Blade wheels, Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes with regenerative braking, extended range solar roof, eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, Fisker Hybrid HZ External Sound (exterior speakers that generate noise to warn pedestrians), Bi-Xenon headlamps, Voice activated hands-free navigation with rear camera, and 10.2” Haptic Touch Screen, to name but a few of the numerous standard features of this car. The car has been properly serviced over the course of the past five years including receiving a battery upgrade under warranty (a $10,000.00 value) and recall replacement for a faulty cooling fan unit. Other service records indicate the muffler was replaced at 15,000 miles when the car was generally serviced.

The paint is in excellent condition with a few marks on the surface. There is a 1.5” scratch on the driver’s door, scuffing along the bottom of the clear bra on the front bumper, and slight scuffing at the rear of the right wheel arch near the side marker light. Other than these minor items, the car has a beautiful overall finish, which has been nicely preserved and cared for over the past five years. The Circuit Blade wheels are in very good to excellent condition with no curb rash. Lenses, glass and lighting are all in excellent condition throughout as well as all emblems, script lettering, and details. The solar roof panels and tinted glass are also in excellent cosmetic condition.

The interior is in very good condition, with few marks or notable wear to the luxury seating surfaces, center console, or beautiful dashboard. The dashboard and assorted instrumentation properly illuminates, displaying the features and systems in the car. The condition of the carpeting, door panels, and other interior surfaces is excellent throughout. The car starts, runs, and charges per original specifications with very good brakes and comfortable steering. Driving this Karma one is easily impressed with the excellent road manners and sporting nature exhibited under even average road conditions.

Under the hood, the turbocharged Turbo Ecotec engine is clean and tidy and appears unmodified from new. The trunk compartment is also as new, including the tire kit, which appears as new. Included with the car are all ownership documents, service paperwork, owners manuals, both keys, and the original window sticker.
