General History

Launched in 2003 with the first models delivered to customers in 2004, the all new DB9 was an astonishing revelation of engineering and design. Spurred on by Ford ownership and massive resources, Aston Martin was able to increase production and invest further into production improvement, build quality, and performance. The resultant DB9 was a fantastic car with striking looks with undeniable world-class build qualities.

Developed with an alloy chassis and aluminum composite body construction, the bonded body panels and lightweight chassis reduced overall weight and improved torsional rigidity. Production enhancements were incremental throughout the build, however, beginning in 2007 the DB9 was updated with a new electrical system that greatly improved reliability, a new front seat design with integrated head and thorax airbags, programmed seat settings, lumbar adjustments, and dual-stage seat heaters. LED approach lights were added on the door handles, as were front parking sensors, an auto dimming rear view mirror, and power memory side mirrors. A big improvement in handling was also achieved that year with lowered suspension. A big change for the V12 Volante was that it was no longer restrained to 165 mph via speed limiter. Unleashed, the DB9 V12 could achieve a top speed of 186 mph under ideal conditions. The 6-liter V12, capable of 450 hp, delivered power to the rear wheels propelling the car to 60mph in less than 5 seconds. All-disc antilock brakes with brake force distribution were also standard along with Dynamic Stability Control.

Condition and Ownership

This beautifully maintained Aston Martin has been cared for since new by the current and only owner since his purchase in 2007. Services and inspections performed regularly include oil changes, fluid changes, and inspections per Aston Martin recommendations, all of which were performed by authorized dealerships as shown in the accompanying invoices.

In April 2021, with 31,523 miles, two rear tires were replaced, and a 30k mile service was performed with Mobil 1 oil change, other filter and fluid changes, and a complete inspection. In June 2020, with 31,106 miles, a major service was performed including fluids and filters changed, full vehicle inspection, and rear differential fluid replaced, Also, at this time, the front brake pads, rotors, caliper bolts, and wear sensors were replaced. The upper right leather dash panel was replaced as well as a convertible top rod and spring assembly replaced. In June 2018, with 27,200 miles, the rear brake rotors, pads, wear sensors, and caliper bolts were replaced. Four new tires were also installed at this time along with a four-wheel alignment and four new tire pressure sensors, as well as new gas hood struts, a new tonneau cover flap, and new door struts.

Shortly after his purchase in November 2008, with 3,800 miles, minor cosmetic damage occurred in a parking lot, which was confined to the front bumper and right front fender. Damage was not recorded on the Carfax however the receipt for repairs performed by experts at Brooks Motor Cars is included with the car. During the repair the right front headlight assembly was replaced, the front bumper and fender were repaired, and the car was repainted using matching color and flex additive for the front bumper.

Today this Aston Martin presents in excellent condition with beautiful exterior paint that is glossy and smooth throughout. The door jams, inner surfaces, and the front and rear bumpers are also in excellent condition. The power convertible top raises and lowers properly. The condition of the exterior top material and interior headliner is excellent throughout. The wheels are in very good condition showing minor curb rash on two of the rim edges. All emblems, script lettering, and exterior details are beautifully finished and in excellent condition consistent with indoor storage and enthusiast care lavished on this car since delivered new.

The interior is elegantly finished and has been properly cared for, showing no significant or notable marks to the premium leather luxury seating surfaces, center console, or dashboard. The front seats are beautifully contoured and feature optional stitching over the leather panels of the adjustable heated seats. The dash is contrasted with walnut veneer inserts appearing on the top portion of the descending center console, adding a touch of vintage elegance, concealing a modern disappearing navigation screen. The dashboard and classic Aston Martin instrumentation operate properly as do all systems, air conditioning, premium sound system, and power convertible top. The condition of the carpeting, rear seats and side surfaces, and other soft interior surfaces are all excellent throughout.

Under the hood, the beautiful V12 engine is clean and unmodified from new, highlighted by elegant and purposeful castings displaying 6.0 V12 insignias, all nestled in a remarkably clean engine compartment. The underside shows no visual evidence of structural compromise, further supported by the documentation and ownership history that has accompanied this car since new.

Driving manners are impressive with a combination of power and presence delivered with composure and confidence afforded to drivers aware of the capabilities on tap.
