2002 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe
VIN WP0AB29912S685273
Seal Grey with Black Leather

Regarded by experts and enthusiasts as a seminal Porsche, the 996 may very well go down in history as the 911 that saved the brand from near extinction. Already an aging platform and deeply in need of significant modernization both in performance and manufacturing processes, the 996 would revolutionize the 911 and signal to the world Porsche’s intentions to continue their uncompromising pursuit of engineering excellence. Best of all, the iconic 911 profile and unique design characteristics were deemed critical to the brand heritage and thus were refined and retained in the new version.

Produced from 1997-2004, the all-new water-cooled rear wheel drive, manual 6-speed platform offered the perfect balance of performance and drivability, delivered in a stunning final design. In 2000, Porsche introduced the 996 Turbo which utilized an all-wheel drive system and the powerful 3.6 liter twin-turbocharged intercooled flat six engine derived from the 1998 Le Mans winning 911 GT1 race car. Output was remarkable at 414hp, delivering 0-60 times of 4.2 seconds, achieved with confidence via VarioCam Plus with further handling prowess enhanced by the addition of stability management. The newly refined Pinky Lai body design was beautifully refined, retaining the visually important brand signature of the 911 including the unique silhouette, distinctive greenhouse, and wide stance, particularly on the Turbo model. Considered critically important to the history of the 911 lineage, 6-speed manual transmission 996 Turbos are quickly becoming sought after by enthusiasts who seek pure, low mile, properly maintained examples of these important performance cars.

According to owner documentation, window sticker, and the recent Carfax on this car, the first owner titled the car in Northern California where it has remained since new, regularly passing required emissions testing. The option code sticker on the car and stamped in the owner’s manual indicates the car was delivered with the following options:

CO2 – Catalytic Converter
XSC – Headrest Crests
424 – CD compartment
586 – Left Seat Lumbar Support
696 – AM/FM Radio w/CD

Records and statements from the current and previous owner indicate the car has benefited from regular maintenance, oil and filter changes, and services as needed. The current owner purchased the car from the original owner in 2018 with approximately 45,000 miles. Service records under prior ownership are recorded up to 37,000 miles in the stamped owner’s manual service section. In March 2018, the current owner commissioned 3M protective clear film installation on the front bumper of the car. In December 2018, the hydraulic clutch pressure accumulator was replaced and the following year, September 2019, with 52,000 miles, a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 30ZR and 40ZR tires were installed. In December 2019, the clutch and rear main crankshaft seal were replaced at 53,000 miles. Currently showing 59,967 miles, the last service was performed in November 2020 with 57,631 miles including four-wheel alignment, fluids checked, and a new water pump installed. The car has passed California emissions and is accompanied by a California emissions certificate dated October 11, 2021.

Today this Porsche presents beautifully
with excellent factory applied Seal Grey metallic paint that is glossy throughout and very well preserved. The body panels have been digitally metered, returning paint depth readings between 2.5-3.5 mils on all surfaces, verifying the factory original paint. The clear protective hood film applied to the front bumper has protected the car from major road chips. The body is in excellent condition showing excellent fit to the doors, trunk, and hood with excellent panel gaps and no major chips or road marks. Often speckled from road use, the side view mirror finishes are also in excellent condition. Both front and rear bumpers are properly fit to the body with consistent panel lines and smooth surface transitions. The trim, lenses, and original factory glass are all in excellent condition. The beautifully finished wheels reveal the four-wheel disc brakes, accented by red brake calipers against the silver spoke wheels. Outfitted with correctly sized Michelin tires just 7k miles ago, the visual presence of this car is confident, powerful, and beautifully composed, particularly in the deep silver body color, which highlights the tinted glass lines and delivers on the promise of legendary hunkered down, powerful 911 design.

The original black leather interior is in excellent condition including the driver’s seat left bolster which is often worn or scuffed. The leather seating surfaces and headrest crests are very nicely preserved as are the door panels, and carpeting. The dashboard and instrumentation are also very nice overall with clear digital readouts, proper function, beautiful factory dials, and excellent surface finishes. The steering wheel, handbrake, and 6-speed manual gear shift handle all remain in excellent condition showing just modest hints of use typical of low mileage cars. Smoothly integrated into the central upper console, the Pioneer Navigation and CD audio system is a very desirable feature which also includes an integrated backup camera. The door sills and seat backs are in excellent condition, as are the headliner, sun visors, switches, and controls throughout the interior. The overall fit and finish of the interior is fresh and nicely composed, exhibiting all the traits of a properly maintained and professionally detailed car.

The engine compartment and front trunk retain stock finishes and factory correct components. The engine compartment is clean and properly detailed, with all cosmetic features under the hood remaining fresh and properly maintained displaying excellent factory finishes and correct hardware. The trunk compartment remains stock from the factory, displaying correct materials and finishes, an unused collapsible spare tire, proper accessories, correct factory parts, tools, and jack, and correct construction details consistent with factory original examples, further validating the originality and unmolested chassis and floor pan.

The car starts instantly, delivering a wonderful rich exhaust note from the factory stock exhaust.
The six-speed manual gearbox immediately reveals precise shift travel and excellent clutch action, benefiting from the clutch replacement performed in December 2018 at 53,000 miles. The fantastic performance capability of the Turbo coupled with exceptional brakes, remarkably efficient aerodynamics, and surprisingly comfortable touring manners delivers a composed, tight, and intuitively responsive driving experience even to lesser skilled performance drivers. The chassis and supporting factory underbody aerodynamic features show no evidence of structural compromise, corrosion, or modifications. The car comes with a set of factory tools and tool roll, tire jack and protective bag, air compressor, factory leather owner’s manual pouch, factory ownership books, Pioneer audio system manuals, and Pioneer remote control.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a low mileage, well maintained Porsche 996 Turbo. Offering amazing performance, legendary engineering, iconic design, and uncompromising build quality, this Porsche Turbo is ready for the next fortunate owner to experience the power, prestige, and excitement beautifully packaged in a 6-speed manual turbocharged 911 Porsche.
