Description

1990 Ferrari Testarossa
s/n *ZFFSG17A7L0087135*, engine no. *24657*
Rosso Corsa with Tan leather

Upon its introduction in late 1984, the Testarossa stunned the world with its avant garde styling. Long low and wide, the Testarossa appeared even more so thanks to the extensive use of horizontal slatting, a feature that would be replicated both on other Ferraris and on many other lesser cars. Yet beneath these striking features was a surprisingly organic and handsome form that remains as arresting today as it was thirty years ago. Motivated by a new four valve version of Ferrari`s horizontally opposed twelve cylinder engine that made 390hp, the car was quick and made a fantastic racket, but was also very plush with leather almost everywhere, including on the rear shelf, headliner, and visors. The trunk is reasonably sized and the car very comfortable and easy to drive, making it an ideal way to cover long distances at high speeds in comfort. Many Testarossa owners use them regularly and there are many owners with cars having covered over 125,000 miles, and even an example in the San Francisco area with over 200,000 miles!

This particular car lies at the opposite end of the spectrum, having covered just 3,200 miles since it was sold new in 1991. It is a top drawer one-owner preservation grade car that has been carefully stored and has been in California its entire life. The car was purchased new at Hollywood Sports Cars in January 1991 as a late 1990 model. The car has been fastidiously maintained, having received its last major service at Ferrari of Beverly Hills with a cost of over $9,900 and has traveled roughly 175 miles since then. However, this service was completed roughly seven years ago and the car is therefore due for another service if it is to be driven. The car also retains its original books including window-sticker, tools and a cover. The car is overall very clean and has covered very few miles under the care of one mature owner.

Finished in quintessential Ferrari Rosso Corsa, the car presents itself as a time-capsule example of one of Ferrari’s most recognizable and striking road cars. The paintwork continues to show very nicely with no noticeable blemishes on the car and the car has never received any sort of paint work from new. The car’s fragile front spoiler remains intact and devoid of the damage often seen on Testarossas thanks to a discreet metal protector fabricated by the dealership when the car was sold new. The factory wheels are in very good condition with a very small patch of curb-rash on the right rear wheel measuring roughly ¾ of an inch. All of the car’s glass is very clean and remains generally free of scratches or wear. General panel fitment is excellent and the body is straight and true. It would be very difficult to find an original Testarossa with such exceptional presentation.

The car’s interior is in equally nice condition, presenting essentially like a new car. The leather in the car is very clean and supple with very minimal wear throughout, with just a small amount of surface wear on the left bolster of the driver’s seat about one inch in length. There are also a few very small finger nail nicks in the leather on the handbrake, central console and the instrument binnacle. Interior electrics are all operable including its automatic electrical seat belts and air conditioning, which blows cold. The car’s carpets, floor mats and kick-plates all remain clean and devoid of any noticeable scuffs or stains.

The car’s engine compartment and trunk are both immaculate with no noticeable wear in either location. Within the trunk, the carpet is very clean as is the windshield-washer bottle. In the engine compartment, there is no wear or aging to report and the engine and engine bay are generally very clean and totally original in appearance.
Because of its mature one owner and low mileage of 3,200, this extremely well-preserved Testarossa is one of the most original and well-kept examples in existence. The car remains very tight and its stunning styling continues to draw crowds to this day. The original and very well-preserved nature of this Testarossa would lend itself as an excellent and cost-effective basis for final preparation to platinum level competition. The car truly is as one might expect for an example having accrued 3,200 miles and represents a truly investment grade top-tier example of an appreciating and iconic 12-cylinder Ferrari.

We welcome mechanical inspection of the vehicle to verify the car’s excellent working order and fastidious upkeep.
