Description

1974 Ferrari 246 GTS Dino s/n 7946 Silver with Black leather, Daytona seats, and Grey carpets We are pleased to offer this highly original, well kept, unmolested, US model 246 GTS \"Dino\". Perhaps no other car has enjoyed such radical apperiation in the recent months, and with no end in sight, the Ferrari Dinos remain an execellent investment piece. This particular example has been in southern California since the mid 1980s, and has logged a total of 40,452 miles. It was delivered with power windows, A/C, and Daytona seats. The most recent owner bought it in 1993 with a recent engine-out, top end and gearbox rebuild at 38,000 miles. Consequently, this car has a motor and gearbox assembly with just 2,500 miles on them, and has perfect compression and leak down results: 175psi and 6% across the board. Cosmetically the car shows very well. The body is straight and the gaps good. About 10 years ago the car was repainted in its orgional silver; an extremely high quality job which shows no signs of deterioration. The exterior and interior chrome is all very good, but one nickel-size area in the right front bumper shows some delamination. The wheels, window glass, window gaskets and trim pieces are all very good. There is one small paint nick near the engine bay, likely a result of a dropped tool, and barely noticeable. More modern aftermarket mirrors have been fitted. The roof has been painted gloss black, with some small imperfections from being in storage. The interior is extremely original and is outstanding. The upholstery is original thoughout, and the seats are free of cracking, major wear marks, discoloration, or splitting. The dash is the original `mouse hair` fabric, and in excellent condition. The steering wheel, also original, shows some cracking in the leather, simply from age. The carpets show moderate wear and minor discoloration. The door jambs and sill plates and clean and straight. The engine compartment and frontal area are both in good, clean, well-kept condition. The engine bay is free of corrosion or flaking paint, and the firewall nicely detailed. The car has been fitted with catalytic exhaust. The plastic in the frontal compartment is not cracked, and the water bag is present. The trunk carpet is worn in a few small areas, but is original. Overall, it is a nice, well-kept California car with no rust, a nice repaint, and a few small details which could be improved to make in an outstanding example. Currently the car sits on correct Michelin XWX tires. With the car comes the correct spare tire and wheel, full tool roll with tools, jack and jack bag, and service records back to 1986.
