Description

1965 Ferrari 330GT 2+2 s/n 5935, Engine no. 6411 Red with Dark Grey Interior Sharing its power plant with 330 GTC-which is largely believed to be to be one of the best driving Ferraris of the era- the 330 GT 2+2 remains an economically attractive, early front engine V12 Ferrari, despite having enjoyed a 28% rate of appreciation in the recent year. This example is a Series I, of which only 1,080 were built between 1963-1965- considerably fewer than virtually all Ferrari late models today. This example is best described as a driver in condition, and has had over $14,000 in recent mechanical work by respected professional Patrick Ottis. This work included replacing steering links/tie rod ends (ball joints), rebuild the steering gearbox, rebuilding the brake boosters, brake master cylinder, brake hoses, and flushing the system, re-coring the radiator, small electrical repairs to charging system, alignment, oil change of transmission oil and differential oil, adjustment of distributors, and replacing numerous seals in engine, and shifter bushings. Further engine work may be required as Mr. Ottis made note of a `knock/rattle` in the motor on his work orders dated September 2007. The paint and chrome works is of reasonably good quality in keeping with driver standards. The body is reasonably straight, although there has been moderate rust repairs carried out to the rocker panel area of the undercarriage, which is common to these cars. This example sits on Borrani wire wheels with new Dunlop tires. It also has a Borrani spare wheel. The interior is also representative of a driver in condition. The correct gauges and factory wood wheel remain. The headliner is excellent. The front are rear seats are trimmed in very soft dark grey leather, with the driver`s seat bolster showing some wear. The rear package shelf still carries the factory speaker covers commonly lost on most cars. The door panels are both in good condition. This car is fitted with power windows. The engine bay is predominantly original in equipment, although this car is fitted with engine number 6411, also a 330 GT unit, although non-matching to this chassis. The car drives well. The engine starts easily, revs strong, and makes good power. The brakes work well, and the suspension feels reasonably tight. The clutch disengages with the correct travel, and second gear syncro is good when warm. There are a handful of issues with this car, we have taken this into account, and it has been priced accordingly. The odometer needle has fallen out and is inoperative. The exact mileage is not known. There has been some rust repair, the engine may require additional work, and driver`s seat upholstery is imperfect. The car makes a strong impression, is fun to drive, and has had much recent work performed at great expense by Ferrari expert Patrick Ottis. With the car come records for the current ownership period, the Borrani spare wheel with tire, and the original key.
