Description

1959 MG A Twin Cam s/n YD3/1656, Engine No. 16GB/U/1294 Orient Red with Black Leather and Red Piping In all, just 2,111 MG A Twin Cam Roadsters were built making them the rarest MG production car of the era by far. This restored and matching number example was originally sold in its current color combination of Orient red with black interior. It remains completely stock, with correct MG A disc knock off wheels, Jaeger gauges, and side curtains. In 1988 this car was bought by famous car collector Bruce McCaw. Ron Thompson did all the body and paint work in 1988, and the final assembly was done in 1992 by Vintage Racing Motors for Mr. McCall. The engine was reportedly rebuilt by Ron Gregory in Seattle, WA. We performed a compression test when the car arrived which yielded exceptional results: 175, 185, 175, 175. The car drives very tight, shifts smoothly, and stops straight. In 1994 the car was sold to well known collector Pat Hart who kept until 2006. In April of 2006 the steering rack was rebuilt and front end aligned, heater hoses replaced, battery replaced, carburetors cleaned and tuned, valves adjusted, brake and clutch master cylinders replaced. The exterior, interior, engine bay, and underside, are all fully restored. The body shows no evidence of prior rust or damage repair, gaps are good throughout, and door shut even and tight. The paint has a very high quality finish, and apart from three small chips around the engine bay, is near flawless. New fender piping and rubber gaskets were installed when the car was reassembled. All the chrome has been re-plated and is excellent. The car sits on restored MG one piece knock off wheels. The interior is in like new condition with new leather seats, dash, and door panel upholstery. The carpet and Tonneau are also new. All the original Jaeger gauges are fully operational, as are the headlights, indicators, and wipers. With the car comes a box of spares from the restoration, spare restored knock off wheel, and restored side curtains. This car makes the perfect addition to your British car or MG specific collection.
