1996 Porsche Twin Turbo Coupe
VIN WP0AC2995TS376355
Midnight Blue Metallic with Two Tone Marble Grey and Dark Blue Full Leather Interior

Over full fifteen years after it was introduced, the 993 Twin Turbo remains a stunning performance machine. Its specification bears remarkable similarity to the 959 that stunned the motoring world ten years before that, including 6-speed manual gearbox, all wheel drive, twin turbochargers, 400+hp, which conspire to bring 0-60 in the low 4 second range. Today, the 993 is especially appealing to traditional Porsche enthusiasts not only for its fantastic performance, but also because it is viewed to be the last of the original 911s. It is the last of the air-cooled cars, and those familiar with a 1965 911 will instantly recognize the dashboard, doors, and greenhouse as being the same, despite the passage of over thirty years between the two cars. When asked why the door design was unchanged for so long, Porsche Design Chief Harm Lagaay simply replied ‘it’s a good door’. The more recent car has of course been updated and bears all of the modern equipment expected of a car of this caliber, and as the last of the air-cooled 911s, the 993 generation cars have been appreciating smartly in recent years, with Turbos leading the way.

This particular car is a beautiful low mileage example that is finished in a rare and attractive color combination and is very well-optioned. Finished in Midnight Blue Metallic, the car has a Marble Grey full leather interior with dark blue dashboard, door caps, steering wheel, and headliner. The car is also equipped with hard back sport seats, Litronic headlamps, self-dimming mirrors with rain sensors, hi-fi sound with 6 disc auto changer, colored wheel crests, floor mats, rear windscreen wiper, and built in K40 radar.

The car was sold new in January of 1997, and lived on the East Coast with two owners until 2006 when its current owner purchased it. The car accumulated few miles during this period but was regularly serviced at the Porsche dealer, with a dealer-supplied service summary print out showing the car’s service history. The current owner bought the car with 25,000 miles on it in 2006 and has used it sparingly and serviced it regularly, with invoices on hand for regular maintenance totaling just under $4000 from the current ownership period. Included among this was replacing the hydraulic accumulator for the clutch, exhaust heat shields, and regular fluid changes. Additionally, a new battery was installed in July of 2013. It has a clean Carfax supporting the history above.

The car is in excellent original condition. The paintwork is very good to excellent overall, with a few small chips and scratches from regular use, commensurate with the car’s mileage. The panels all fit and operate properly. The glass and lights are in fine shape and the wheels are very good, although the finish on them no longer looks new and there is a small area of curb rash on the right rear wheel. The remaining wheels are free from curbing.

The interior is in excellent condition, with the only real indication of wear being some minor creasing on the driver’s bolster and light marks on the heel pad carpet on the driver’s side. The remaining leather and carpets are excellent, and the interior retains its leather smell that it had when new. As a car equipped with full leather, the interior has leather covering almost all surfaces, including the center console, upper and lower dash, door caps, door panels and pulls, map pocket lids. The gauges and switches are all excellent, and like the exterior of the car, there are no modifications. A switch for the integrated K40 radar has been added to the center console.

The engine compartment and trunk are both unmodified and show as expected for a carefully stored and maintained low mileage car. The front deck lid shocks appear to have been recently replaced and open the deck lid with much more enthusiasm than is typical for these cars. The rear deck lid shocks are weak but not completely expired. The luggage compartment retains its full carpeting including pouch for the CD changer. The correct jack, tool roll, compressor, and even the plastic gloves supplied with the car to change the tire are all present with the car, as is the full book set and service invoices.

This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a rapidly-appreciating modern classic. Representing a unique intersection of the classic 911 and modern performance and features, the 993 has always overshadowed its successor and represents the last of the line for the original 911 architecture. This low mileage example is finished in a beautiful and unique color combination, is highly optioned, has known history from new, and is complete with original accessories, books, and records, making it suitable for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
