1958 Austin Healey 100-6 Two Seat Roadster
s/n BN6L/4303
Primrose with Black Interior and Yellow Piping

The Austin-Healey 100-6 was the second of the three Austin-Healey models later known as the Big Healeys. It was introduced in 1956 to replace the Austin-Healey 100.

Among other updates, it featured a longer wheelbase than the original Austin-Healey 100 and a six-cylinder engine replacing the slightly larger capacity four. The body lines were changed to a less rounded appearance, with a wider, lower radiator grille below the air scoop which was added to the bonnet, and a fixed windscreen.

There were two model designators, the 2+2 BN4 produced from 1956 onwards, and the more desirable 2-seat BN6 produced from 1958.

The cars used a tuned version of the BMC C-Series engine previously fitted to the Austin Westminster and which at first produced 102 bhp (76 kW) increasing to 117 bhp (87 kW) in 1957 by fitting a revised manifold and cylinder head.[1] The overdrive unit became an option, which this particular example has.

Best described as an exceedingly solid, straight running and driving example for restoration, this desirable two-seat model will be an ideal candidate for the buyer valuing good bones and structural integrity. Thanks to its California black plate residency, this 100-6 has been spared the weather damaged inflicted by European or Eastern US climates. While the car could certainly benefit from paint, chrome, upholstery, and engine bay details, virtually no corrective metal work will be required to achieve a high caliber restoration.

The car starts easily and has good power. Currently, the brakes are dragging, and the car pops out of reverse, but it is possible to drive the car a short distance to confirm the general health of the drive train, suspension, and steering.

Included with the sale of this black plate California car is a full cockpit tonneau cover, the unrestored top, a jack and knock off hammer, and the spare wheel.
